Celebration of Negros Farmers Weekend Market a Huge Success

The celebration of the first anniversary of the Negros Farmers Weekend Market along Magsaysay Avenue was a huge success!

Shoppers and well-wishers from all walks of life came to the NFWM as early as 7 in the morning to join the celebration.

The festivities were officially ushered in by a short program, emceed by public relations mogul Alan Gensoli.

Ruth Cruz, president of D.C. Cruz Trading Corporation welcomed and thanked everyone who made the festivity possible.

Also she made mention of the volunteers and all those that had helped ensure the market’s opening and continuity during the past year.

Bacolod City Mayor Monico O. Puentevella, in his inspirational message paid tribute to the Cruz family, who, in discharging their corporate social responsibility had made the facility a reality. He also congratulated Ruth Cruz, Philip and Ruby Cruz, Alan Gensoli for their industry and determination that contributed greatly to the success of the weekend market.

He said, this market made it possible for its patrons to avail of quality organic vegetables and other organic agricultural and livestock produce which are very healthful. Also, for making it possible for patrons to partake of a wide variety of foods from other countries like Japan, Spain, as well as the delectable Negrense cuisine.

"Our congratulations to all the organizers, particularly the Cruz family and the very active volunteers. May you continue to expand and serve our community as well as the tourists that are patronizing this market."

Ruby C. Cruz awarded tokens to the volunteers and active distributors for the past year.

Among those given recognition were: NDB’s William Henry Streegan, Elsie Gonzaga, Dino Yulo – Vice mayor of Murcia; Alter Trade, the Corro family, OISCA, Hebanex and daily Apple of her spouse Philip Cruz;

Leo Polido, EDC, Ellen Chua, Gerry Ledesma, SW Management Board, Architect Rafael Tan and a score of others.

Everyone was entertained by the Babaylan Dancers of Bago City and a dog show. Also, by Bagguer Villaluz on the organ.
